How To Bake A Cake: The Right Steps To Take To Make Your Cake bake Properly
Cake testers are the tools you need to find out if your cakes are edible. When people buy a cake from a bakery, they are given a selection of flavours to choose from when making their purchase. But the real test of taste is done by the satisfied customer who brings the baked delight home. And the only way to be absolutely sure the cake is the flavour you want it to be is to try it yourself!
Cake testing isn't as simple as using the standard cake leveler. That will work, but the leveler will knock the air out of the cake. This air contains many of the tastes of the ingredients that you want to extract from the cake. If you use a standard cake tester, then you will never know that a sizable chunk of filling has been left over when testing for allergies or compatibility.
There are other ways of detecting if a cake is cooked properly. One such method is the infrared thermometer. It uses infrared heat, which reacts to the presence of the base, giving a very precise reading. This type of baking tool can be a little more expensive than the traditional one, but it is worth it for many special occasions. The main disadvantage of this is that you cannot just use it to check the temperature of your baked goods all the time.
A much cheaper and easier alternative is to use an automatic cake tester. This is a much simpler device that can check the correct temperature with just a few movements of the arm. However, it also has a tendency to move too far away from the cake, so you need to be very careful that it doesn't touch the cake with your finger before giving it its final test. If you do use this, make sure you wipe it clean after every use!
A more sophisticated and high tech device is the digital cake leveler. It has the advantage of being able to measure the bake level without moving from the stand. Also, it has an electronic timer which means that you can bake longer in a given period of time. However, it requires an external power source and some skills to use.
A very good cake tasting tool is called a dessert analyzer. It is usually a piece of plastic which has a small bowl inside. All you have to do is pour the batter into the bowl and turn it upside down. It will then read out what temperature the cake should be at. If it reaches the set temperature, it's ready!
Another useful gadget is a digital thermometer. This is useful for baking cakes, especially ones that are really thick or dense. A good quality thermometer has a probe which is actually seen through its glass bowl. The easiest way to test it is to place the cake onto the heating element and to take the temperature reading.
There is one other tool that I'd like to mention today! That is a non-stick parchment paper that comes in several colors and which comes in handy when baking a sponge cake or a tarte tatin. You can spread it on the pan before baking to ensure that your cake will come out clean. Make sure you leave enough space between each piece of parchment so that they don't all stick together!
One last thing I'd like to tell you about today is about sprinkling the cake with confectioners' sugar. Well, don't do it! Why? Because the texture is not smooth like sugar; it will create lumps in the cake and will give your cake a strange, grainy taste. Instead, you should sprinkle the cake with either coarse sugar (that will "scratch") or with fine sugar.
Baking a cake is quite a simple task if you follow the right steps. However, if you're a bit disinterested or have no patience, then you need to find someone to bake for you. How do you find someone to bake for you? Easy! Ask your friends! Chances are, if someone you know bakes cakes, they will be happy to share them with you or recommend a professional who bakes for them regularly.
A great way to start searching for someone who can bake for you is by searching for local cake makers online. Make sure that whoever you hire specializes in the type of cake you want. Ask questions, see samples of their work, and visit their websites. If you do everything else correctly, you will end up with a delicious and properly prepared cake!
